Hi! I'm Kristy
Hi! I’m Kristy Kay, an artist, designer, maker, and mom to my sweet 1-year-old daughter, Naomi. Creativity has always been part of my world. I grew up running around craft fairs while my mom sold her hand-painted clothing, while my pilot dad enjoyed welding metal sculptures and lamps that decorated our home. That love for making things stuck with me, and I’ve always felt a pull toward textiles and color.
For over a decade, I've worked in animation, designing for films like The Spongebob Movie: Sponge on the Run, Hotel Transylvania 2, and Smurfs: The Lost Village, helping to develop worlds through visual development. But after the pandemic reshaped the animation world, and with the life-changing experience of becoming a mom, I found myself craving a more intentional, hands on way of creating.
I signed up for an intro to sewing class, pulled out my mom’s old sewing machine, and began sewing my own clothing. Over the past year I've made the most of every nap time, slowly building a new creative space alongside my work in animation. Now I design and sew colorful quilts and children’s clothing from reclaimed textiles. My style blends modern folk with bold colors and playful shapes, crafted to spark joy and celebrate the beauty of handmade.
Thank you for being here and supporting me in this journey - it means the world!
